Storm rolls through

So you know how beach weather is. Raining one second then it stops.  Well while on the beach the clouds rolled in. We figured we could wait it out.  Rain won't hurt you.  Well this is what we experienced.

Then after we survived the storm the sun comes out.

This is our day on the beach!  How was your day!

Late night visitors.

So much wild life on Kiawah...but this family of deer visit us nightly.

Now a favorite activity in the evening is looking for golf balls and alligators.

And we found an alligator ~ 10-12 ft to be exact. It is quite exciting when you locate one.   As you can see some of us don't like to get too close.
Such fun on Kiawah Island!

Shark!

So we had a small shark attack out on Kiawah.  A 14 year old was bit in the surf.  The unique thing is he was able to use martial arts to punch the shark in the nose.  The shark released his leg.

Now we have all these fishermen out fishing on the surf.  Yes while they have caught some nice size fish, it has attracted more unwanted guest.

It was a screen from the movies .  A shark swimming in the surf.  Fin was seen and people screamed "shark".  The fishermen kept fishing. True to form.

And what do we so? Tweet about it of course.

New southern tide meets old Lilly Pulitzer

Found my old Lilly skort and put it with my new southern tide T-shirt
for a evening  of relaxing on porch watching golfers.  Nice breeze and cup of java.

Best day so far...

We got to share the day with Natalie on the beach.  What a precious baby and family.  ~with the Wilkes

National Lilly Pulitzer day...

Even at the beach Lilly is ever present.

Relaxing at the beach

Today starts week two...no rain!

It could not have been a more peaceful day.  No one was on the beach.  It was a calm beautiful day.  I sat back and read a book and sipped fire fly tea!

I am getting very use to this life!

This sign on the bike trail to The Sanctuary really says it all...

It rains at the beach?

So as we settle in for the summer at Kiawah, it rains almost every day for the first week.  We still brave the weather and go down to read our collection of many books

We come back to relax on the porch and find these kids playing frisbee in the rain on the golf course.  And the golfers are still playing.  Can we say golf edict.

As it clams we go for an evening bike ride.  The egret pond is a favorite ace to stop.  So peaceful.  Obvious why the birds like it.

Tomorrow we may head inland to shop and stop at Starbucks.  Or may go back to beach.  Such a nice lazy summer.

Firefly distillery

After leaving the vineyards a stop at Angel Oak was a must.  The 500 year old tree is expansive with its canopy covering  1700 sq ft.  It's trunk is massive.  A nice break in the humid afternoon.

Very fun day at the distillery. Just south of Kiawah on Maybank Hwy is a local vineyard and distillery. They make their own sweet tea vodka.   It comes in a variety of flavors.  What a great way to take a break from the beach and take in the local scenery.

Day at the beach

My day at the beach; most entertaining.

Have you ever sat on the beach and watched people?  What a entertaining way to pass time.  It amazes me the parents who don't watch their children, dogs that bark not stop and people that just let it all hang out.  I like being modest.  I am not in shape, so why would I want people to see my body. Now there are woman who look amazing at the age of 50 and above.  More power to them.

First night of official relaxation

After arriving on the island, made a quick stop at Fresh field.  Always home and never changing. Now to work on tan and read lots of books. This is the life of contentment

Technology in today's world...

While we are surrounded by social media, it is hard work to make a name and get recognized.  There is so much information that it can be overwhelming at times.
My hard work has paid off in trying to get my project out there for everyone to see.  I was picked up by an online magazine.
Paper.il
Check out my project.  Scroll down to stories and click on the link for Mrs.tucker.
Thanks for all the support.  My kids truly are grateful

BYOD-getting kids ready for the future

Do you remember sitting in school being bored?  Today teachers are not only educators, but now we are fighting with the world of technology.  Students are newly energized with the idea of a flipped classroom or making movies in class. They can electronically take test and interact with classmates online.
This year our school district had adopted a new policy...BYOD.  I am very excited but I teach at a title I school.  My students all come from a low poverty area.   I am trying to get them iPods, iPads, and notebooks that they can check out and take home.
Please repost and pass the word...we can double our money with the code INSPIRE.
