Weekend get away

All the rain and snow was just about to drive me crazy!   We had a few days of nice weather and then it comes again. It just seemed the perfect time for a weekend get away.  And it just so happened my best friend got married, at the beach.  Perfect timing. 

The weather turned out to be perfect.  The morning started out great and I had to start my morning with an ice coffee on the beach.   It was still cool for a swim but what a great view.  

No trip is ever complete without a little shopping... I just had to add the kate Spade bow to my bangle collection.  The other kate was lonely.  Ha.  Back to the real world tomorrow...but the weekend makes it better!

Snow Day

Snow came to the south...

We got a dusting of snow but it was just enough to call off school.  Being a teacher I was very greatful for a day off. I used my time off to get some much needed sleep. 

Our German shepherd actually got tired of being inside so she took off outside to play.  She loved the snow and cold weather.  She even loved more watching the kids sled. 

We just got word that we have tomorrow off due to black ice...not sure what we will do!?!?

The world of weddings...

You have the ring...what is next?  Bridesmaids are chosen plus one more. Wedding planning is in full swing...

Weddings can be fun when you are a guest, but what if you are the one planning it?   It takes a lot of work.  You must be very organized.   This is the best organizer! It has a place for everything.  

Let me recommend you set a time line and stick to it!

AND THEN HAVE FUN! 

We went to a local bridal store to try on dresses.  It was fun but not successful.  We immediately made an appointment to have a dress fitted to perfection. I think every girl needs that in store experience to find what they don't want.  But the dress is the most important part of the wedding and what a girl dreams of, she must have.  So off to have it made. LuLakate in Charleston was amazing.  They can do anything.  Cannot wait to see my baby in her gown.  She will be Beautiful. 

Next up flowers, food, photographer...and a weekend in Charleston.

An Amazing year...A better year to come 2014

This year brought my daughters graduation from Clemson University...she is such a beautiful young lady.  All my dreams and expectations for her have come true. 

Her boyfriend of five years has ask her to marry him.  They will marry in June 2014.  We are thrilled to welcome him into our family.  I am beyond thrilled his family has taken her in as their daughter. She is very blessed.  God has revealed the most amazing plan in her life and has taken care of her.

As we toast the newly engaged couple...I am again reminded of how God brought these two together and has continued to bless our families.  2014 will be a year of joy and new beginnings. Such an exciting time in our life.

New iPad means find new apps

Recently our new principal gave us a dream come true.  Our entire staff got new iPads. Now the search is on for apps. I am a big fan of freebies.  Haha.  What teacher does not like a free app.  Now if I find an extraordinary app for .99 I will take the plunge.  

These apps are kid tested , so far bug free, and common core friendly:

These apps are for elementary age students.  I teach 5th grade and they have approved of them. The favorite is math zombies.  

We begin cells this week, so I am anxious to see if it is helpful.  Kids like to play with it and the amebia app but the true test is the quiz!   Not shown is the socrative app.  LOVE it. Online quiz app that grades and emails you a spread sheet.  

My students using our Crome lab and taking a quiz on socrative!  They love it.  One young lady is testing it out on her tablet.  Works great.  I am very excited about our district using BYOD this year.  I am taking full advantage of this everyday.  

Clemson Gamma Phi Beta Parent Weekend...

This is a year of last.   Today was our last parents weekend.  My daughter will be graduating in December from Clemson University. We are so proud of her.  I have relived my college days through her and once again they come to an end all to quick.  My advice to her was Stay In School.  Lol.  We all have to grow up, but we miss our years of young fun, no worries, and college football.  

I am not sure if we will still attend games, but it has been a nice long run.  I have been attending homes games since 1978.  It is a family tradition.  My dad still attends.  So I am sure I will see a few more games in my time.
